Another talent: Danielle Henderson's new book suggests Ryan Gosling, pictured, is a feminist icon
As if A-list actor, heart-throb, animal activist and fledgling director (his debut film has just been announced) wasn’t enough, The Notebook star Ryan Gosling has another string to his bow: feminist icon.
At least that’s the premise of Danielle Henderson’s new book, Feminist Ryan Gosling.
Featuring pictures of the actor pulling seductive poses captioned with snippets of feminist theory, it includes gems such as: ‘Since you make 77p for every pound I earn, I’ll pay for movie tickets.’
And then there’s: ‘Hey girl, the patriarchal establishment may fail to give a voice to women’s issues, but I could spend hours talking with you’.
If that doesn’t get you hot under the collar, it’s just been announced that Ryan is to make his first feature film, How To Catch A Monster starring Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks.
While it is not known if Ryan really does spout words of woman-friendly wisdom, we do know from (obsessively) reading his interviews that he loves his mum and dog, waxes lyrical about female co-stars, and once broke up a New York street fight. Which, frankly, feminist or not, is enough for us.
