Inbetweeners stars Joe Thomas and Hannah Tointon share a flat in the city

Not so unlucky in love after all! Inbetweeners stars Joe Thomas and Hannah Tointon live together in the City

Joe Thomas and Hannah Tointon share one of the most awkward scenes in series three of The Inbetweeners – and that is saying a lot.

But while, Joe's alter-ego, Simon, struggles to hold onto the object of his affections in the comedy. The Cambridge-educated actor has had more luck in
love off screen.

Joe and Hannah, the younger
sister of ex-Eastenders star Kara Tointon, live together —
somewhat primitively — in the City. But are hunting for a new, more
contemporary home.

‘We live in an old-fashioned 1960s building in the Barbican and it is like stepping into a time warp,’ says Joe.

‘We
have no dishwasher and no hot water. The washing-up consumes so much of
our spare time that Hannah has suggested we eat off paper plates.

'But I
have drawn the line at living in a permanent children’s party.’

But
while her sister Kara is happily sharing a duvet with her former
Strictly Come Dancing partner Artem Chigvintsev, Hannah, 24, who is to
play club hostess Kiki in the second series of BBC newsroom drama The
Hour, will move in with Joe only to a house with basic comforts.

‘I
quite like the romance of having to boil the kettle every time we have
to wash up or have a bath, but Hannah doesn’t,’ Fresh Meat star Joe, 28, said at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.

‘Our list of
house needs is long.’
