How to steal… Katherine Jenkins” tartan style
Highlighting the Highlands: Katherine Jenkins in the Scottish print
Tartan has migrated from the Highlands and into the fashion spotlight this winter with stars such as singer Katherine Jenkins donning the Scottish print.
Katherine wore a 470 Alexander McQueen pleated tartan dress on ITV’s Lorraine show, following in the stylish steps of Rihanna on The X Factor and Emma Watson at the GQ awards.
After so much exposure, the dress sold out within moments.
Isabel Marant, Vivienne Westwood and Carven have also picked up the distinctive print in their collections and High Street shops have followed suit.
Oasis offers a simple neutral cape with buckles, while House of Fraser and Hobbs have tartan dresses with clean silhouettes and flattering lines which will carry you effortlessly from the office to any Christmas party.
If you’re going to commit to checks, remember to accessorise lightly and team with neutral colours that won’t vie for attention with the print.
And if you really want to make a statement, make sure your tartan has red — and, as with Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania skirt, the brighter, the better.
