L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream
The Sanctuary Skin Perfecting BB Cream
Origins A Perfect World BB Cream
GOLD: L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream SPF12, 14.99
idea of a beauty balm (BB) cream is that it does several jobs at once.
This one works as a primer, moisturiser, foundation, concealer and sun
protector. It gives invisible coverage with no streaks. It’s called a
perfecting cream, which is exactly what it does to your skin.
SILVER: The Sanctuary Skin Perfecting BB Cream SPF15, 14.99 (Boots)
in two shades — light and medium — this BB balm has a light
consistency, but still expertly covers minor imperfections. It only
needs one application and stays put all day. It also has a great
illuminating quality, so your complexion looks healthy and natural
rather than caked-on.
BRONZE: Origins A Perfect World BB Cream SPF15, 27
feels more like a very light foundation. But it provides great coverage
and has anti-ageing benefits thanks to its antioxidant ingredients. The
product has a subtle tint, which, unlike heavy foundation, covers
imperfections without further exaggerating lines and wrinkles.
Give your hair some added oomph.
GOLD: Moroccan Oil Curl Cream, 23.85 (moroccanoil.co.uk)
Whether hair is naturally curly or you style it with bounce, there’s always a fine line between perfect curls and frizz. This styling cream helps to create curls that stay neat for longer. You don’t need to use much, so a little goes a long way.
SILVER: Pantene Pro-V Style & Protect Heat Defence Spray, 4.49
This is specially formulated for normal-to-thick hair, but I’ve found it works brilliantly with long, heavy hair. It helps to eliminate the flyaway strands often left after blow-drying, leaving locks looking smooth.
BRONZE: Aussie Dual Personality For Straightening+Heat Protection Leave-in Spray, 4.69
This is a lovely spray that gives hair bounce while protecting against heat styling. It uses Australian jojoba to protect and nourish, and is light enough to use every day. The spray helps to protect hair against heat damage, so it’s particularly good if you’re regularly using a hairdryer, tongs or straighteners.
PRETTY ON PARADE
It’s not just the world’s top athletes who are on parade tomorrow for the Olympics opening ceremony. The volunteers, medal bearers and torch carriers will be looking their best, too, thanks to top make-up artist Caroline Barnes, who has designed a look for volunteers during the opening and closing ceremonies.
The volunteers have already been given make-up-filled goody bags, so they can perfect their stage look beforehand, plus a card of tips and a link to a step-by-step video tutorial.
The look has been designed because it flatters all face shapes and skin shades, so it’s the perfect party make-up guide.
To make eyes stand out, Caroline’s tip is to use an eyebrow pencil to add definition to the brow. Sweep a pale shade of shadow across the eyelid, then apply a darker tone in the socket and underneath your lower lashes to make eyes appear bigger. She recommends Max Colour Effect Trio Eyeshadow in Coco Crazy (6.99).
Also, she recommends applying Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Pearl Beige (6.99) to the inner corner of the eye. Then, use a Liquid Effect pencil in Violet Voltage (6.99) on the outer corners of the top and bottom lashes and two coats of mascara to finish off the look.
The goody bags contain Olay moisturiser and make-up remover wipes, Wella hair comb and hair ties, Pantene Classic Care shampoo and conditioner and make-up including foundation, blusher, mascara, lip gloss and nail polish.
The men don’t miss out either. They get products from Gillette, Head & Shoulders and Shockwaves.
