How racy Rachel is covering up on Countdown after her parade of plunging necklines 'irritated her bosses and viewers'

On Countdown, figures are multiplied, added, divided and subtracted.
But since the arrival of the curvaceous Rachel Riley, they are also squeezed into lace and shimmied into short skirts.
The glamorous co-host of the Channel 4 show has been sbhowing off her enviable figure in a range of outfits which leave little to the imagination.

Given a dressing down Miss Riley is seen left in a short, figure-hugging dress with a low neckline on Countdown in 2010, and in a more conservative number on a recent episode, right
But the parade of plunging necklines and rising hemlines is said to have irritated her bosses – and even some viewers.
And if the dresses she has worn recently are any indication, it seems Miss Riley, 26, may have been ordered to cover up a little more.
The girl who once declared: ‘I like short dresses’ appears to be trying out a rather more conservative look. Necklines are higher and hemlines a little longer.
'Simple and feminine dresses': In the past Miss Riley favoured showing off her curves in numbers like this daring red body-con dress, left, and short pink and black frock, right
Demure: The white lacy dress, left, Miss Riley wore recently on the show – while still short – was more classic and covered up than her earlier wardrobe choices, as was this knee length pink number, right
Miss Riley replaced Carol Vorderman on Countdown in January 2009, having graduated with a 2.1 from Oriel College, Oxford. What to wear on the show was a challenge from day one.
‘I made lots of fashion mistakes and got criticism for what I wore – especially the frumpy jumpers and baggy clothes that made me look older and bigger than I am,’ she told an interviewer.
‘With a lot of help from the show’s stylist, I now stick to smart, simple and feminine dresses. About twice a year, the stylist and I go shopping on Regent Street.’
However, not all viewers have welcomed her brand of fashion sense.
Writing on Twitter, one said: ‘I’m fed up of Rachel Riley’s a** in my face every time I watch Countdown. Give up the figure hugging dresses and become more demure.’
Now it has been reported that Miss Riley has been told to send Countdown bosses pictures of prospective outfits.
‘Rachel was stunned to get a message that the outfit she had worn on a particular day had sent them into a rage,’ an insider told a newspaper.
‘She has been wearing the same sort of clothes for more than three years – but now if she is planning to introduce a new outfit into the mix she has to get the OK from on high before she is allowed to go ahead.’
Last night Channel 4 refused to comment on the claims.
The presenter has reportedly been told to send pictures of her prospective Countdown outfits to bosses
Miss Riley married millionaire Jamie Gilbert in August.
The couple, who dated at university, briefly split in 2010 but became engaged the following year.
She co-hosts the much-loved show with The Apprentice star Nick Hewer, and is in charge of its number and letter games.
During the maths round, she places six numbers on a board from a shuffled pile. Contestants then have 30 seconds to arrange the numbers in a sum that matches a randomly generated number, using addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
