Gwyneth Paltrow is officially fashion royalty as she beats the Duchess of Cambridge to the title of World's Best-Dressed Woman in influential People magazine poll

FOR all the care and effort she puts into looking the part of a Royal fashion icon, Kate Middleton could have expected better.
But the Duchess of Cambridge was beaten into second place yesterday by Gwyneth Paltrow for the title of the ‘World’s Best Dressed Woman.’
The Oscar-winning actress, 39, came out on top in People magazine‘s annual list of sartorial celebrities.
Kate might have the best 'classic style' but Gwyneth's minimal Hollywood glamour meant she topped the influential magazine poll
While Gwyneth won the best dressed
title, runner-up Kate at least claimed a consolation as the woman with
the best classic style.
Further down the top ten were
Hollywood actress Emma Stone, pop queen Rihanna and the Kardashian
family of American reality TV show fame.
Gwyneth’s stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman,
said the wife of ‘Coldplay’ frontman Chris Martin was not a slave to
trends. ‘She doesn’t do fringe. She has a uniform. It’s simple, not
overdone,’ she told the magazine.

Kate was heralded for her ‘flawlessly elegant attire.’
‘Whether in an ivory long-sleeve
Roland Mouret gown (with glittery Jimmy Choos peeking out) or a red
pleated Alexander McQueen design, the Duchess continues to pick
glamorous and chic pieces that still befit a future queen,’ said People.
The American celebrity magazine said
the list was compiled after soliciting input from its 42 million
readers, its editors and fashion bloggers.

And here is how NOT to do it: Sarah Jessica Parker and Fergie were both singled out as badly dressed stars
Third place finisher Emma Stone, the
23-year-old star of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Help,’ was chosen
as having the best red carpet style, while singer Rihanna, who was
seventh, was praised for taking the most risks in her fashion choices.

People also looked back at some of the
fashion faux pas of 2012.
The magazine recalled an orange lace dress
worn with prominent black underwear by pop singer Fergie, and a floral
floor-length dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker that fashion blogger
Heather Cocks said made the “Sex and the City” actress look like a cast
member of polygamy TV reality show “Sister Wives.”
