With a divorce drama surrounding him following his split from Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise is probably grateful for a distraction in the form of his work.
The actor was spotted getting stuck into filming for his new movie Oblivion in June Lake, California today.
The 50-year-old was spotted in military style attire, complete with a gun slung across his back, for his role in the upcoming sci fi film.
Throwing himself into his work: Tom Cruise was spotted on set of his latest movie Oblivion today in June Lake
The star was seen emerging from a million-dollar Silver Screen bus gifted to him by Scientology bosses as he got ready to film scenes.
It seems Tom is throwing himself back into work while his estranged wife Katie Holmes is getting on with her daily life alongside six-year-old daughter Suri.
Just hours after reaching a divorce settlement yesterday,Tom surfaced in June Lake, California, where he is continuing to shoot the movie.
Playing the part: Tom showed no signs of strain as he filmed in military style gear
Travelling in style: The star was seen stepping out of his expensive Silver Screen coach
Today he was warmly greeted by cast and crew, with one brunette embracing him with a hug.
According to a 2005 memo leaked by Marty
Rathbun, a former Scientologist who left the church in 2004, Cruise had
demanded that the Silver Screen coach had a special drawer fitted in it full of
slippers – to ensure that nobody walked on the vehicle with dirty shoes.
The memo reads: 'Cruise requested
that a space be figured out for placement of slippers in the front of
Silver Screen as he doesn’t want shoes on the carpet.
Battlefield: Tom plays a soldier in the movie, which is due for release next year
Keeping busy: Tom was probably welcoming the distraction amid his divorce from Katie Holmes
In good spirits: Tom seemed relatively cheerful as he got ready to shoot scenes
'This is figured out — there is a
drawer at the entrance which can be used for this. He also stated that
no one will be allowed to enter other than his personal assistants.'
Referring to Scientology leader David
Miscavige, who Tom refers to as Chairman of the Board (COB), the memo
continues: 'Mr Cruise also said that when Silver Screen arrives he isn’t
going to set foot in it unless COB has been in first.'
As well as the Silver Screen bus, Tom
is also believed to have received a selection of personalised
motorbikes, and an aircraft hanger complete with a luxurious office,
from the church.
Expensive gift: The Silver Screen is understood to be a present to Tom from Scientology leaders
Back to work:Tom Cruise received a warm welcome on the set of Oblivion in June Lake, California today
Tom was seen along with his Silver Screen as he continued shooting new sci-fi movie Oblivion in Mammoth Lake Airport, California, yesterday.
Katie, meanwhile, has been pictured out in New York with Suri, of whom she has gained sole custody.
A spokesman for Oblivion told E! News yesterday that Cruise will be filming scenes for the movie over the next few days.

Something to talk about: The actor was spotted chatting on his phone as he left the movie set
Tom was in Iceland filming when he learned of 33-year-old Katie's intention to file for divorce.
Since then he has been keeping a low
profile – and flew to Los Angeles for a sombre 50th birthday celebration
last week, where he joined his adopted children Isabella, 19, and
Conor, 17, from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman.

Touching down: The actor, left, is seen emerging from his private jet in wake of today's news that he has reached a divorce settlement with Katie Holmes
Yesterday, Katie's lawyer has
confirmed her highly-publicised divorce with Cruise has been settled, as
reports emerged she will have 'sole custody' of their daughter.

It seems the couple have reached an
agreement out of court, meaning the actor's beloved Scientology is no
longer at risk of scrutiny with the religion's secrets being dissected
during a trial.
Jonathan Wolfe said: 'This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.'
Speaking to TMZ, he added: 'We are
thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she
embarks on the next chapter of her life.
'We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution'.
According to TMZ, while Katie has sole custody of Suri, Tom will still get significant custodial time with his daughter.
Apparently the agreement also includes
details on what Tom and Katie are allowed to tell Suri regarding
religion, including Scientology.
The restrictions are eased as Suri gets older, the website reports.
A separate source, speaking to Radar,
also revealed that Suri will remain with Katie in New York, where they
currently reside, and will be accompanied by her own nanny and team of
bodyguards when she visits father Tom on weekly occasions. However an
insider who spoke to TMZ has disputed this.
The insider told Radar: 'Katie
insisted that Suri's nanny and bodyguards always accompany her when she
visits Tom… This will ensure a smooth and easy transition for Suri
when she is with Tom.
'Suri is Katie's number one priority.
Tom only has Scientologists that work for him and Katie insisted that
her staff will always be with their daughter.
Out and about: Katie took Suri out in New York today following news she will get sole custody of the six-year-old
'Under terms of the settlement, Suri
isn't permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology related and this
includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made
sure that this was ironclad.'
Suri will also not be expected to
attend a Scientology school, like Cruise’s adopted children with ex-wife
Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Conor did.
Fingers began pointing even before reasons of their split came to surface.
And earlier today, the rumours
circulating their difference in religious opinion, notably the Cocktail
actor's rigid Scientology beliefs, appear to have been confirmed in a
joint statement from the couple.
Released by their representatives, the
notice states that they will continue to work together as parents and
'express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our
