It's an idyllic afternoon in the park. You're strolling in the sun and your new puppy runs ahead to play. You call it's name.
'Fatty Mcbutterpants!' And then you realise how insane that sounds.
Or perhaps you don't, because like others on Banfield Pet Hospital's list of top ten crazy pet names, you are not the only one who named your pet something bizarre like Baron Von Doodle or Chairman Meow.
Just call me Fatty Mcbutterpants: Banfield Pet Hospital have released their annual top ten list of Weirdest and Wildest Pet Names
Banfield, an 800-strong group of pet hospitals across the nation, released its annual Weirdest and Wildest Pet Names list and Fatty Mcbutterpants stole top spot as craziest moniker.
Though the list doesn't specify what species of domesticated animal the names belong, some are fun to guess and quite obvious.
Coming in fourth place for instance is Chairman Meow and two places down, Lord Godrick Von Mousenberg which both sound like cat names.
Coming in at second is a titled pet, Sir Goose Slobberalot, who one can presume is some kind of saggy-jowled beast that trails his or her saliva through the owner's house.
TOP TEN WEIRDEST AND WILDEST PET NAMES
1. Fatty Mcbutterpants
2. Sir Goose Slobberalot
3. Beetle Juice Monster Pants
4. Chairman Meow
5. Honey’s Lil Midnight Moonshine
6. Lord Godrick Von Mousenberg
7. Emperor Chewy Teddybear
8. Cookie Fudge Rainbow
9. Baron Von Doodle
10. Alyssa Butter Scooch
What type of pet Beetle Juice Monster Pants may be is anybody's guess.
One thing is for sure though. With all the ten names, calling for them to come in the park was not a consideration at their 'christening'.
Most likely pets like Honey's Lil Midnight Moonshine – perhaps a cat who lives in a bar – have abbreviated nicknames.
Also on the list are Emperor Chewy Teddybear and Cookie Fudge Rainbow.
Rounding out the top ten are Baron Von Doodle at number eight and Alyssa Butter Scooch. Not Scotch, Scooch.
Banfield compiled the list from their database of 800 hospitals' records.
They must have counted a few Mr Whiskers and Mr Fluffys but we can't imagine there was more than one Fatty Mcbutterpants.
