It has become the favoured pose of celebrities keen to show off their legs in thigh-high split dresses.
But at the Emmy awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, American Horror Story Alexandra Breckenridge discovered the perils of such a pose as she was photographed on the red carpet.
The 30-year-old actress ended up flashing her nude underwear as she uncrossed her legs and tried out another pose at the ceremony, held at the Nokia Theater.

The perils of an Angelina leg! Alexandra Breckenridge flashed a bit too much as she posed on the red carpet at the Emmy awards on Sunday night

You put your right leg out…: Alexandra took some tips from the Ms Jolie school of posing on the red carpet
However, Alexandra was quick to
correct her fashion mishap, adjusting her dress to protect her modesty
before breaking out a few more poses ahead of the ceremony.
Alexandra teamed her one-sleeved dress by wearing her red hair swept up into a chic up do.
The pretty redhead has starred in shows including Courteney Cox's Dirt, True Blood and American Horror story, and will soon be seen in upcoming thriller movie Dark.

That's better! After her wardrobe mishap, Alexandra corrected herself as she continued posing up for photographers
Alexandra attended the event alongside
comedienne Shannon Woodward, with the pair even compiling an
Emmy-inspired music video during the car journey to the ceremony.
Angelina Jolie hit the headlines at
the Oscars earlier this year when she posed on the red carpet in her
thigh-high split dress, with 'Angelina's right leg' sparking viral
spoofs all over the world.
Speaking previously about the
commotion her outfit caused, Angelina said: 'I honestly didn't pay
attention to it. You know what I mean I don't watch those TV shows and
if I go online and see something about myself, I don't click on it.

Slim pins: Heidi Klum and Maria Menounos also appeared to be channelling Angelina with their thigh-high split dresses

Dressed to impress: Jena Malone, Giuliana Rancic and TV presenter Lara Spencer all flashed the flesh in their split dresses
'I heard something, but I didn't pay
any attention. It's as simple as being a woman picking a dress you like
and having a night, and not really thinking about anything else.'
And Alexandra wasn't the only star to attempt to recreate Ms Jolie's pose on the red carpet.
Heidi Klum, Maria Menounos, Giuilana
Rancic and Jena Malone all opted for dress which featured thigh-high
splits, sticking their legs out of the split to show off their slim
pins.
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on 5USA at 10pm on Monday 24th September.
