A death, two weddings and two babies: 'Indestructible' Carl King meets his maker in Emmerdale's dramatic live episode

He's spent the last few months blackmailing former flame Chas Dingle over her affair with Cameron Murray.
But on Tuesday night's first-ever live episode of Emmerdale, troubled Carl King finally met his maker after making one too many enemies in the village.
In a practically flawless hour-long edition to celebrate the ITV1 soap's 40th anniversary, the businessman began causing trouble by storming into Chas and Dan's wedding covered in blood, telling the couple their union was a 'mistake'.
Killed off: Carl was left for dead after being hit over the head twice, by both Chas and Cameron
As soon as she saw her menacing ex in the church, the brunette barmaid was on edge, practically rushing her new groom out of the ceremony and begging him to leave Emmerdale immediately.
But after Chas ran out of the couple's reception claiming she needed to change her dress, a worried Dan went looking for her – only to find his new wife with her bags packed.
Ignoring her pleas to leave the village immediately, he said: 'You think you've had the ultimate humiliation when your wife tells you she's a lesbian but it turns out the barrel is a lot deeper.'
Wedding crasher: Carl started causing trouble by arriving at the church as Chas married Dan and declaring that she couldn't be trusted
Terrifying: Chas and Carl became involved in a violent argument, which resulted in her delivering the first blow to his head
Handing Chas the keys to his beloved camper van, Dan fled the scene – leaving Chas preparing to drive off before Carl could find her again.
However, she wasn't alone for long, with her conniving ex soon looking straight at her through the windscreen.
After they began kissing passionately in the back of the vehicle, Chas seemed to see her mood turn, telling Carl: 'You don't want to be with me, Carl. You just don't want anyone to have me.
'You lied, you cheated and now you're blackmailing me, you're everything a woman wants. Go ahead, tell everyone I've been s***ging around because I have just ruined a good man's life because of you.'
An angry fight ensued, with Carl pinning Chas up against a wall and the pair rolling around on the floor in a violent scuffle.
Enemies: Cameron and Carl then battled it out as Carl taunted his love rival
'I'm charmed': Carl declared himself 'indestructible' before Cameron delivered the fatal blow with a brick
She screamed: 'You disgust me, I can taste you in my mouth and it's making me feel sick.'
Revealing to Chas that he killed his own father, Tom, six years ago because of the way he felt about her, he said: 'I stuck up for you when he badmouthed you. I knew exactly what he thought of me when I pushed him from that window. That's right, Chas, I killed my own dad for you. My own dad!
As it all became too much, a terrified Chas grabbed a nearby rock and delivered a potentially deadly blow to Carl's head, before running away in horror.
Although knocked out by the incident, Carl seemed to be recovering – until Cameron arrived on the scene and vowed he wouldn't leave until Carl agreed not to tell his girlfriend Debbie about his affair with Chas.
Murderer: Cameron checked to see whether Carl had a pulse, before grabbing his phone and fleeing the scene
Tense: The episode also saw Debbie Dingle give birth to her baby son Jack
Telling Cameron to put the brick he was holding down, he said: 'Put that down, we both know you're not going to use it.
'A few years ago I sat down with Jimmy after Matthew died and I said I thought I was cursed. But I'm not, I'm charmed. Bad things happen to people around me but I always survive it, and I'll do it again. I'm indestructible!'
But as he uttered his final words, a furious Cameron delivered the fatal blow to his head.
However, it wasn't all doom and gloom in Emmerdale's live episode.
Touching: Debbie admitted she already loved her son, despite initially worrying whether she would have motherly feelings towards him
New parents: Gennie and Nikhil also welcomed a baby daughter into the world
Gennie and Nikhil welcomed their baby girl into the world in the slightly bizarre location of Chas' wedding reception, while Debbie gave birth to her second child, prompting tears among the entire Dingle clan.
And in touching scenes, Debbie admitted to her mother, Charity, that she feared she wouldn't love her son as he was initially intended to be a blood marrow donor for her daughter Sarah.
She said: 'All the way along I thought all this was just for Sarah. I got scared because I didn't know if I'd love him, but I already do.'
Meanwhile, Katie's nuptials with Declan also had their fair share of ups and downs, resulting in a fuming Megan shoving the bride's face into her wedding cake.

Not the look she was going for: Despite her guests' horror, Katie seemed to see the funny side of the incident
