She stepped away from the limelight for a little while earlier this year, but yesterday (Wednesday) Dannii Minogue proved she was back and that she means business.

The 40-year-old star launched her latest Project D collection in London and she certainly made an effort to do so.

As she arrived at the event, Dannii grinned for the cameras as she showed off her enviable figure in a floor-length sequin dress.

The gorgeous dark blue garment not only featured a flattering neckline, but fell over the star's figure perfectly.

However, it wasn't just Dannii's dress that stood out as the mother-of-one head teamed it with bright red lipstick and a killer quiff.

Those that saw her being interviewed on Lorraine earlier on in the day will know that Dannii's hair is far too short to pull off a quiff, meaning she would have had some help from a hairpiece.

The Australian star looked confident and happy as she posed in the doorway before heading inside and joining her co-designer Tabitha Sommerset Webb.

She too had made an effort for the special occasion wearing a dark blue floral print dress.

The blonde, who seeemed to tower over Dannii, teamed her pretty dress with nude heels and minimal make-up.

The pair are obviously really good friends and feeling excited about their latest collection.

As they took part in a photocall, they couldn't stop laughing and hugging one another while the photographers snapped away.

The ladies rebranded the label last month, changing the name to Project D London.

Dannii decided to showcase the latest designs ahead of London Fashion Week, which takes place this month.

And it seems the former singer is more than happy to be back in the Capital and continuing with her career.

Appearing on Lorraine yesterday she said: 'I would love to be back on TV here, the
support that I’ve had has been incredible.

'It has been such a big ride
for me being invited onto a big Saturday night show and I feel like a
lot of people lived that with me and I'd love to come back and do
something new.'

Many X Factor fans were upset when Dannii quit the judging panel last year, but although she has admitted she was open to returning to British TV, she appeared to rule out a return to the ITV1 talent show.

after Kelly Rowland quit the show.

Since
leaving the show last year, Dannii is now living full-time in
Melbourne, Australia, sharing custody of her son Ethan with ex-boyfriend
Kris Smith.

Despite missing from UK screens, Dannii is a judge on Australia's Got Talent.

With The X Factor viewing figures dropping in the UK, Dannii admits she's been following the show's developments.

She continued: 'I think the landscape of TV has changed
incredibly in the last 12 months globally, so it’s kind of like, what
is going to happen next And you want to do something that’s really good
and that you’re passionate about.

'But it’s been nice, I’ve kept in
contact with my X Factor contestants that I’ve mentored, and it’s really
cool – it’s been a big part of my life.'

The mother-of-one was wearing a black 'Indra' dress from her Project D collection's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

Dannii admitted she would love the chance to design for U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.

She enthused: 'She has been on our wish list since we
created our label. We just like dresses that are easy to wear – and
whatever you see her in, it’s easy-going and yes, her arms are fierce.'
