Teen bride Courtney Stodden has revealed that she occasionally calls her much older husband 'dad.'
'I accidentally call him 'dad' – you know, Doug-dad, same thing,' she admitted on VH1's Couple's Therapy, while sitting next to Doug Hutchison, 52.
Hilarious! Doug and Courtney are amused by the fact that she calls him 'dad' on occasion, they revealed this on VH1's Couple's Therapy
He added: 'It is what it is.
'The thing about us is, we can laugh
at ourselves and that was part of what we were trying to convey on our
show…She can call me dad, I can say, 'I'm raising my wife.' It's all in
But the 18-year-old proved that despite this odd dynamic, she does have some sense inside her Barbie perfect head.
She revealed she told the Green Mile star that she's not ready for children yet.
'We got into that issue, that was one of the main problems we were facing in our marriage,' she said.
'He wanted a baby and I did not want a baby,' Stodden added.
'I'm not against kids, but my career is my baby… And when I'm ready to share that, we'll discuss.'
The cat that got the cream: Doug hasn't stopped smiling since he married the 18-year-old
'Dad, Doug' no big deal: Courtney manages to shock even Dr. Bermann
The odd couple, who met through a
mutual friend, also revealled how they first were not allowed to sleep
in the same home at the start of their relationship – due to child
As Courtney was only 17 when the reality show began filming, she was forced to leave their house at the end of the day.
The couple said it was the first time they had spend the night appart since they wed in 2011.
Asked why they didn't wait until she
was 21, Doug admits: 'I wasn’t thinking responsibly. To be fair, I truly
wasn’t thinking responsibly. I was thinking with my heart.'
Life's a ball! Doug is unconcerned with the Freudian slip
Not her time: The youngster at least told Doug she's not ready for a baby
And while he said sex wasn't the 'primary motivation' to rush a wedding, the actor admitted it was on the top of his list.
'I won’t lie to you it wasn’t the
farthest thing from my mind because she is this beautiful sexy woman,
but it wasn’t the prevalent thing on my mind,' he said, while adding,
'It wasn’t primary motivation, I found true love.'
Courtney echoed: 'I didn’t want to wait either, I pushed it because I wanted to be with you.
'Someone that looks like me
physically… I had so many men, write me, follow me home, I knew that I
wanted to wait 'til I found that one person that I felt safe with.'
We shall overcome: Don't panic because the couple overcome their problem
Addressing the TV doctor's concerns
about her upbringing, the teenager said she has never been sexually
molested or touched 'in any way'.
'I just feel more comfortable that way,' she said, referring to her uniform of barely-there dresses and sky-high heels.
'I have a good body I’m enjoying my youth now,' she said.
