Yes! Yes! Yes! I'd love to stay in: Couples who can't afford to go out are spending more on sex as the recession bites

Staying in has become a much more exciting prospect for cash-strapped couples who are investing in sex toys and lingerie instead of going out.
Sales of items such as blindfolds, handcuffs and sexy knickers have increased as more people are opting for a night between the sheets with their loved one over an expensive evening out.
Online retailer lovehoney.co.uk have said their sales of saucy items have have shot up by more than 50 per cent in the last two years. Meanwhile, a survey by The Sun's Fabulous magazine found that 71 per cent of their readers now own a sex toy.

simply can’t afford to spend 100 on a big night out any more. They’d rather spend 40 with us and have a lot more excitement together at home. We are all about affordable fun,' said Lovehoney owner Richard Longhurst.
The sex capital of the UK is Fleet in Hampshire, according to figures from lovehoney based on spend-per-head. Residents there spent
double the national average on saucy outfits, triple the average on
bondage toys and four times as much on orgasm boosters.

This could be one of the reasons why Fleet was voted the best place to live in
the UK last year by the Halifax Quality of Life study.
After Fleet, residents in Didcot, Oxon, and Godalming, Surrey, spent the most on spicing up their sex lives.
Meanwhile, people in the village of Wilmslow in Cheshire, spent more on bondage items such as whips, handcuffs and blindfolds than anywhere else.
It will perhaps come as no surprise that this is the home of Coronation Street's Bill Roache, who recently boasted that he's slept with 1,000 women.
However, it isn't all kinky fun up North as sales in Sunderland, Blackburn, Rotherham and Oldham were four of the five towns with the least spend on sex.

Sex expert Tracey Cox said: 'Twitch those curtains and all sorts of exciting stuff is going on in bedrooms. This is all about couples being experimental with their sex lives.'
She added: 'It’s a positive for relationships – it shows an openness and willingness by people to make an effort to try new things.
'This backs up evidence that the more highly educated you are, the more likely you are to be open to experimenting in the bedroom. It means we're taking active steps to keep our sex lives steamy and fun.'
