He has moved on from being the self-described 'saviour' of Radio 1 to try his luck in musical theatre as King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar.
And on Monday, Chris Moyles was seen for the first time in costume for the role, cutting a smart figure in a red velvet suit, complete with slicked back hair.
But Chris somewhat ruined his dapper appearance by sneaking in a cigarette ahead of the photocall at London's LH2 Studios.
Sneaky: Chris Moyles was seen enjoying a cigarette in full costume as King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar
Man in red: Chris wore a red silk patterned suit, teamed with a black shirt and red tie for the role
The 38-year-old presenter, who finished his slot on the Radio 1 breakfast show last week, chatted amicably to his co-stars while sucking on a nicotine stick, before heading inside for a dress rehearsal of the show for photographers.
The role of King Herod is the first musical part Chris has taken on, and theatre guru Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber admitted he is excited to see what spin the loud-mouthed DJ will put on the part.
He said previously: 'Chris is a fantastic character person. He has the twinkle in his eye. He doesn’t want to play it in the way it’s been played before — he doesn’t want to play it camp.
Getting to know you: Chris was joined by a few of his co-stars as the group got in a nicotine hit ahead of the photocall
Nervous As well as smoking, Chris was also seen gearing himself up for the performance with a coffee
It hit the spot! But it was all smiles for Chris as he made his way to the stage for the photocall performance
'I think he might be quite frightening actually!'
And Chris added of his role in the musical: 'To receive a phonecall from Andrew is very cool, but then when he asks you to be in his musical that's pretty amazing and there is only one thing to respond with… And that is yes!
'Absolutely! My mum’s gonna be well excited!'
All star cast: The show also stars Tim Minchin as Judas, Ben Forster as Jesus Christ and Mel C as Mary Magdalene
Not long now! The show begins at London's O2 Arena on 21st September
Chris isn't the only famous face to star in the production, as Spice Girls singer Mel C is taking on the role of Mary Magdalene, while comedian Tim Minchin will play Judas.
Mel said of her part in the musical: 'I have been lucky enough to perform at arenas across the globe and to star in London's West End but taking on the role of Mary Magdalene in the incredible Jesus Christ Superstar has to be one my most exciting challenges to date.
'I can't wait to take the show to some of my favourite venues in the UK with such a talented and formidable cast including Tim and Chris.'
Meanwhile, Ben Forster will take on the title role of Jesus Christ in the musical, after beating his competitors on BBC show Superstar.
The Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour kicks off in London on 21 September before visiting Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool and Nottingham. The tour finishes in Sheffield on 21 October.
