Their turbulent break-up was caught on camera and Chantelle Houghton was seen in floods of tears after a park picnic turned sour.
But now it has been alleged that the Big Brother star claims Rav Wilding’s rage was caused by steroids.
A source close to Chantelle told MailOnline that the breakdown of their relationship was down to mood swings brought on by the drugs.
Blazing row: Chantelle Houghton has told friends that her break up with Rav Wilding was due to her anger issues caused by his use of steroids, Rav denies the claims and has stated that the drugs were to treat asthma
The friend told MailOnline: ‘Chantelle and Rav were having problems and just beforehe went to Norway she told him: “You need anger management you need to stop taking steroids.””
‘He used to flare up and go berserk and Chantelle realised they couldn’tignore a blazing row that they had before he went away, but they did have a lot of arguments.’
‘She has got her wedding dress in storage and he said “why have you got that I want it out”, he was continually like that and getting really angry calling her a slag and a slut.’
Splitting up: Last month Rav and Chantelle were seen having a row in Richmond park which left Chantelle in tears. The next day Rav confirmed they had split up
The Crimewatch presenter has denied the claims on Twitter posting: ‘Herewe go again…more complete lies printed in a sunday paper..’
Rav admitted that he did take steroids but insisted they were in a legal capacity to treat asthma.
He posted: ‘I have never taken any form of “steroid” other than what hasbeen medically and legally prescribed for asthma like thousands of others do’
‘This is all part of an almighty stitch up to try and discredit me after I had to end the relationship.’
Speaking out: Rav has taken to Twitter to blast the claims
In April Rav announced that he had split from Chantelle after five months together the day after pictures emerged of the pair involved in ablazing row following what should have been a romantic picnic in the park.
Chantelle was seen crying while Rav appeared angry and was seen pointinghis finger at her and grabbing her arm as she sat in tears.
Speaking about the breakup following the split Chantelle said: “You givesix months of your life to someone – you don’t expect this treatment. Everyone could see it was aggressive. I’ve had such a horrible week – it’s been the toughest of my life.
Prior to their split Chantelle had admitted that Rav had found it difficult to come to terms with the fact that she had been married before.
Chantelle met her ex-husband Preston, of Ordinary Boys fame, on Celebrity Big Brother and they married in August 2006, only to split up 10 months later.
Talking about her relationship with Rav in March she said: ‘We have little rows – Rav finds it really hard that I”ve been married before.
“It doesn”t anger me but I don”t like someone wanting to change my past because I wouldn”t change it for anything – I don”t regret any of it.
“I don”t think Rav wants to acknowledge it, but what went on between me and Preston is important,” she said.
In happier times: Rav and Chantelle looked loved up at the opening performance of Circ Du Soleil”s Totem
He wrote: “Wanted to clarify situation after speculation 2day. Sadly Chantelle & I are no longer in a relationship as I’ve had to draw a line under it.
“It’s been a really difficult week and a lot has gone on, & I appreciate everyone’s kind words. The relationship wasn”’t what I wantedso badly and wasn’”t the genuine thing I thought it was.
According to The News Of The World a friend of Chantelle’s has said thatRav was also unhappy with her glamour modelling and told the paper: ‘He’d tell her, ‘You’re my woman now, you should cover yourself up.’
Rav took to his Twitter page earlier today to thank his fans who have offered their support. He said: “Thanks again to everyone who has sent me supportive messages. It”s hard to see such rubbish printed about you, so the kind words mean a lot.’
As source close to the TV presenter told MailOnline: “”Rav doesn”t have any anger issues and in fact it was Chantelle who would create arguments. Rav spent most of his time trying to diffuse possible conflicts due to Chantelle”s erratic behaviour.”
“These suggestions are ridiculous and yet more lies being spread to discredit a genuine, caring, gentle and credible person.”
