Home truths: Natalie Cassidy and Nicola McLean lead the way as housemates break down after getting letters from family
You'd think they were a million miles from home and had been stranded for months on end looking at their reactions.
But the Celebrity Big Brother housemates, who are at Elstree studios and have only been gone two weeks, broke down in floods of tears as a handful of them received letters from their loved ones.
Natalie Cassidy, Nicola McLean and Kirk Norcross were all moved when they were allowed to read notes from home.
Tears: Natalie Cassidy was one of the celebs who burst out crying when she received a letter from her loved ones at home
But their tears and cries seemed over the top when you consider they're only holed up just outside of London and have spent a matter of days away from the outside world.
Not all of the contestants, however, showed their dramatic sides with tears streaming down their cheeks – because they weren't given the choice.
The housemates were split in half and placed in separate rooms, each containing a shredder which was holding the other teams' letters.
Overcome: They've only been gone a matter of days and have only travelled to Hertfordshire but the housemates still broke down
Drama queens: Kirk and Natalie were in the team who successfully received their personal messages
Big Brother informed the celebrities that the first to press their button to shred the envelopes would get the chance to receive their own personal messages.
But if neither team managed to push the buzzer everyone would miss out on the opportunity.
Soap star Denise Welch, X Factor bad boy Frankie Cocozza, retired rugby star Gareth Thomas and the Playboy Shannon twins were all in one team and appeared reluctant to want to shred the letters in their task room.
But the other group, which consisted of Michael Madsen, Natalie Cassidy, Kirk Norcross and Romeo Dunn were led by glamour model Nicola McLean, who was adamant she wanted her letter.
I'll do it! The two teams had to race to push a button and shred the other teams' letters – only Nicola was brave enough to press it
Gratification: Michael and Kirk congratulate Nicola after she pushes the buzzer and wins them their notes
Glum: But mum-of-two Denise's letter was shredded to nothing
Reservoir Dogs star Madsen began crawling along the floor contemplating doing the deed.
But when he stopped short of it, Nicola spoke out saying she thought their team should get their messages because they had the most parents in the group.
She said: 'I'd shred theirs for mine. I'm sorry, I'm being honest.
'The girls (Shannon twins) have not got children and neither does Frankie. People with children need a letter so we can know that our kids are alright. I want my letter.'
Former TOWIE star Kirk insisted he wouldn't be able to actually press the button, but Nicola said she could and went ahead with it.
Following suit: Even TOWIE star Kirk Norcross looked overcome as he was read his loved ones' greetings
Sword fights: Michael Madsen's partner wrote that his son missed him and wanted him to play fight with him
Missed out: The Playboy twins were denied their letters as the other group pushed the button first
The other team seemed to accept they had missed out and agreed with Nicola's decision.
But while they remained courteous, the housemates who did receive their letters let their emotions get the better of them as they whimpered through the readings.
Natalie, who gave birth to daughter Eliza last year, burst out crying and held her hand over her mouth as she was read the letter from home.
While Nicola looked taken aback as she took in what she had done and her own personal scribing.
Even Hollywood hard man Michael let his emotions flood out as his partner wrote that their son misses him and wants him to come home because no one else would play sword fights with him.
The actor was later heard saying: 'He misses his sword fights. That’s because I’m the only one that ever lets him kill me.'
