Cycling star Bradley Wiggins has a lot to celebrate this week.
He is the first Briton to win the prestigious Tour de France race and he is tipped to scoop two gold medals at the London Olympics.
And now he has topped a poll of the sexiest sideburn heartthrobs of all time.
Celebrations: Britian's Bradley Wiggins celebrates his Tour de France victory, and his poll-topping sideburns
Aerodynamic: Bradley's signature sideburns were given a trim for the Tour de France (he's pictured on the right in Switzerland back in April featuring some even more extreme facial fuzz) – was that the key to his victory
Whether sideburns make you swoon or shudder there's no denying that Bradley has some serious statement hair going on.
His signature retro facial fuzz has
been causing a stir in cycling circles for years, and now Asda shoppers
have voted his out there facial hair hotter than sideburn greats such as
George Best, Englebert Humperdinck and even Elvis.
Slade singer Noddy Holder – who
continues to champion the seventies tufty look well in to the noughties –
came a close second to our new hirsute hero, and John Lennon's
generous lambchop look secured him third place with 17% of the shoppers'
Glam rock: Seventies smasher Noddy Holder and sixties sex symbol John Lennon came second and third
Laura Northend, Asda's health and beauty marketing manager says:
‘Sideburns have become something of an acquired taste in recent decades
but this hasn’t stopped Bradley Wiggins from sporting some fantastic
facial fuzz; I wouldn’t be surprised if this leads to many more men
across the UK experimenting with the Bradley-burns’.

And, unfortunately for fans of the
smoothie style celebrity hairstylist Andrew Barton confirms that the
hairstyle that time forgot is making a comeback.
Andrew, who has worked with Robbie WIlliams, the Olsen twins, Kelly Brook and Myleene Klass, says:
'There’s no doubt that side burns and facial hair are big hair fashion news.
'We have noticed a marked increase in
male clients at our London store asking for 'sidies' to be
incorporated in to their haircuts and recently lots of them have been
showing pictures of the likes of George Best renowned for his thick dark
hair and sideburns.
'If you are trying to cultivate your own Bradley 'Burns it’s important to keep sidies looking
good. Our clients often pop in between full hair cuts for a side burn tidy
and we advise them to condition the side burn hair after shampooing as
this helps to soften the bristles a little.'
