Billionaire Roman Abramovich rolls into town driving a small electric motor vehicle

My other car is really a Maybach… Billionaire Roman Abramovich rolls into town driving a small electric motor vehicle

He is currently the ninth richest man in Russia and the 68th richest person in the world with an estimated fortune of $12.1 billion.

Yet the man that seems to have it all showed his green side as he drove around Cap d'Antibes, in the Cte d'Azur, south of France.

Roman Abramovich was seen out and about enjoying the sunshine as he rolled around town in a small electric car, earlier this afternoon.

The 45-year-old looked relaxed and laid back as he and a friend pushed the pedal to the metal in the tiny door-less motor.

The Chelsea Football club owner looked too cool for school as he showed his less exuberant side in a pair of fetching blue sunglasses.

He also wore a pair of shorts with a polo shirt and a pair of black Toms pumps.

Tight squeeze: The small motor could fit easily in between larger vehicles but it was difficult for him to slip into the driver seat

The super safe driver took advantage of the little car's size and parallel parked his vehicle between to normal petrol engines.

The father-of-seven then took a stroll to the rocky waters edge and made a quick phone call before jumping back in his getaway car and driving off.

The quaint motor is a far cry from the kind of luxurious travel the billionaire normally uses.

In 2004, he bought two customised Maybach 62 limousines, which were both bomb and bullet-proof and reportedly cost 1 million.

Abramovich also owns a $2.2 million Ferrari FXX, of which only 29 were built for race track use only, and a Bugatti Veyron, as well numerous other high end sports cars.

His biggest expense, however, was on his 560ft luxury super yacht called the Eclipse.

The boat was designed by Hermidas Atabeyki and was built in Germany by Blohm and Voss.

The yacht is reported to have cost Abramovich around 1 billion and boasts two swimming pools, two helicopter pads, a dedicated disco hall, around 30 cabins, a mini-submarine, and even a missile defence system.

It also has armour-plating around Abramovich’s master suite, bullet-proof windows and a laser system designed to dazzle long-lens photographers.

When it was ordered the initial cost was estimated at around 330million, but by the time Mr Abramovich took delivery last year it was spiralling towards the 1billion mark because of the extra luxury fittings and security measures.
Luxury: Eclipse had an initial order cost of 300million, but this rose to nearly 1billion after all the fixtures and fittings Mr Abramovich wanted were added to the boat
