'My date is hotter than Las Vegas': Newly-single Katy Perry brings her grandmother Ann, 91, to the Billboard Music Awards

She's newly-single after a brief fling with Florence + The Machine's guitarist Rob Ackroyd.
So instead of turning up solo to the Billboard Music Awards last night, Katy Perry brought her beloved grandmother Ann Hudson as her date.
While the singer, 27, turned up an shimmering Blumarine lilac gown, her 91-year-old grandmother was equally 'bling' with her sequinned ballet pumps and crystal-studded cane.

Ultra violet: Katy showed off her figure in a lilac Blumarine dress, which she teamed with dark purple lipstick
Proud Ann was seated with her granddaughter in the audience and was the first to congratulate the singer when she was announced as the winner of the Spotlight Award.
She was honoured with the gong for being the only female artist in history to have five No.1 hits from the same album.
As well as winning an award, she also performed her new single Wide Awake.

Party plans: Perry told the crowd she was planning to do shots with her grandmother to celebrate her award
Ahead of the star-studded bash, Katy wrote on Twitter: 'My date to tonight’s Billboard Music Awards is hotter than the Las Vegas weather. SMOKIN’!'
Accepting her award on stage, she said: 'The real rock star here is my grandmother.. She's 91 years-old and she's from Las Vegas. I can't wait to go and do shots with you after this.'
Perry, who split from Brand in the new year, recently enjoyed a brief fling with Ackroyd after they were pictured kissing at the Coachella Music Festival last month.
The specially-customised cane was previously seen being used by Ann at her 90th birthday party in Las Vegas in January 2011, where she posed for photos with Katy and her then-husband Russell Brand.
