It might have started life as a purveyor of celebrity-inspired knock-offs but ASOS, now one of the UK's largest fashion e-tailers, has scooped the coveted Large E-tailer of the Year Award at the prestigious Drapers Fashion Awards.
With more than 18 million visitors a month, the site has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with celebrity copies giving way to desirable fashion from a huge range of brands.
The website also offers eight original collections of its own, including ASOS Black (party wear), ASOS White (luxe daywear) and Fairtrade collection, ASOS Africa.
Top of the fashion charts: Internet retailer, ASOS, gets more than 18 million visits per month, thanks to cool but affordable clothing like this
Elated: Nick Robertson, Founder and Chairman of ASOS, has seen sales increase by 15 per cent this year – despite the credit crunch
The internet behemoth, voted for by the fashionable likes of the British Retail Consortium's Rob Templeman and Eilidh MacAskill, Editor of InStyle, beat John Lewis, Very.co.uk and eBay to the top spot.
ASOS also took home the award for Growing E-tailer of the Year.
Said the judges: 'This e-tailer hits the fashion trend nail on the head every time while constantly looking for the ways to move its business forward. To call it market-leading would be an understatement.'
They added: 'With growth in short supply this retailer has smashed its own targets and grown at a rate that would be more suited to pre-recessionary times.'
Other winners on the night included celebrity favourite The Cambridge Satchel Company, which won Fashion and Retail Personnel Smaller E-tailer of the Year, and River Island, which scooped the coveted Retailer of the Year – Consumer Award.

Voted for by the public and in

part of the Drapers Fashion Awards.
Soon to unveil its capsule collection
with Rihanna, River Island fended off competition from Warehouse,
Reiss, Whistles, Warehouse, TopShop, COS and H&M to take the public
Also taking home prizes were Barbour, which saw off Hugo Boss and Ben Sherman to take the Menswear Brand of the Year Award and Primark. The latter left with the Larger Multiple Retailer of the Year.
Despite controversies surrounding its labour record and working conditions, the high street retailer has racked up more profits than expected and a recent European expansion has performed well.
Harrods, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Debenhams Oasis and Topman were all left trailing in its wake.
‘It is a special year for Drapers as the awards ceremony coincides with Drapers’ 125th anniversary,' said Drapers editor-in-chief, Caroline Nodder.
'The judges and myself have been very impressed with the quality of nominees – even though it has made it a very tough year to judge.
'Congratulations to all winning retailers and of course all nominees. The night proved to be another successful evening.'
