The therapy session came a day after he left his role as California Governor on January 3, 2011, and he had believed he was there to talk about their transition to normal life following his time in politics.
After Schwarzenegger admitted the affair he gave her 'lame' reasons for his 'screw-up', including a need to keep her from telling her family, the Kennedy dynasty, about the love child.
However, Arnie began grovelling to Maria, insisting that she was the 'perfect wife'.
Admitting that he should have told her about his secret long before, he said: 'Instead of doing
the right thing, I’d just put the truth in a mental compartment and
locked it up where I didn’t deal with it every day.'
